Note: Some options and features may vary from the article below based on your CS Project package.
The layout of CS Project can be customized in terms if the displayed Activity Table and Resource Table information, colour schemes/styles used for the Gantt Chart area, or the information displayed in the resource histogram area.
To customize the Table areas, right mouse-click on the header to activate the ‘Activity Table’ or ‘Resource Table’ window.
Existing layouts can be selected/edited and new views created by selecting the data fields that you wish to see in each column. Depending upon the column selected, you can also format the view of the data displayed within the columns. Column widths can also be set here, although clicking and dragging between the column headings in the actual tables is the easiest method as the results can be seen in real time.
To customize the bar chart area, right mouse click over the bar chart and select ‘Chart Properties…’ to activate the following window.
The screen can be displayed in either Basic (as shown above) or Advanced (following) view. Selecting the alternative view is achieved with the Advanced/Basic button (as circled in red in both images), which toggles between the two views.
These windows can be used to set options such as non-work shading and/or breaks in bars, bar colours/ styles, bar labels, colours and line styles. The various options available are too numerous to include in the Quick Start guide and are fully explained in this help system
The date bar can be customized by right mouse clicking on the date bar area and choosing ‘Date Scale’.
Alternatively you can go to ‘Start – Date Scale…’ on the toolbar to show the same ‘Time Scaling’ window.
This ‘Time Scaling’ window is divided into two areas. The upper area is where rows of information can be configured, the lower area shows a preview based on the current options.
You can choose to display or hide up to four rows of information by adding a tick in the ‘Date Bar’ column against each row. The vertical grid lines in your bar chart can be set at the interval marker of any of these four rows. Numeric format and alignment can also be set here.
The example above shows the month/year, week commencing date, day date and sequential week number. Clicking the ‘Options’ button will start the ‘Period Number Options’ window, where you can configure the sequential period number. The commencement date can be set to the Project start date or a specific input date. This allows, for example, negative period numbers to be shown prior to a ‘commencement on site’ date.
